Subtle evidence documentation
Professional imaging of faint, small, reflective, low-contrast, or otherwise difficult-to-discern details.
Authenticated imagery for litigation and investigation · Photography + video
Forensic-grade technical photography, with imagery authenticated at capture and supported by verifiable provenance.
The new standard for visual evidence
Authenticated Captures™ is a specialized visual documentation service developed specifically for litigation. We combine technical photographic expertise with camera-origin authentication, contemporaneous logging, cryptographic file verification, controlled preservation of original files, and secure delivery.
Every assignment produces an organized visual record with a documented connection to the original capture—providing attorneys and experts with photographs whose origin, integrity, and handling can be independently verified.
Services / What we document
01—11A founder-led Washington, D.C.-area team equipped for sensitive, restricted, fast-reaction, high-stakes, and technically demanding imaging assignments, where conditions may change quickly and important details cannot be recreated.
Professional imaging of faint, small, reflective, low-contrast, or otherwise difficult-to-discern details.
Consistent documentation of injuries, scarring, mobility, medical devices, and change over time.
Systematic exterior, interior, component, damage, orientation, and scaled-detail photography.
Overall, midrange, and detail coverage of buildings, hazards, sight lines, access routes, and surrounding context.
Assignment-specific documentation coordinated with counsel, engineers, investigators, and retained experts.
Purposeful documentation of movement, operation, access, and conditions that a still photograph cannot fully convey.
Respectful still and motion coverage showing the practical effects of injury on movement, work, care, and daily routines.
Controlled views for measurement, comparison, progress, and change over time using calibrated scales and repeatable positions.
Planned site, roadway, property, roof, and construction imagery through vetted FAA Part 107-qualified specialists.
Assignment-specific access to macro, high-resolution, low-light, infrared, thermal, photogrammetry, and other specialized equipment.
Controlled documentation of physical conditions before construction, repair, occupancy, or site alteration begins, creating a signed, hashed, and archived baseline for later comparison.
From shutter to secure delivery
The chain of custody begins before the imagery leaves the camera and continues through preservation, verification, naming, logging, delivery, and long-term control of the original files.
For supported assignments, a hardware-bound signature is created in-camera when the shutter is released.
Original media is copied through a documented process while camera filenames, metadata, capture relationships, and source-media retention are preserved under the assignment protocol.
SHA-256 checksums create a repeatable digital fingerprint for each retained original.
Clearly named review files map back to originals and arrive with logs, indexes, and controlled transfer records.
8C14 7A9D 52E1 4F06 · SHA-256 VERIFIEDAuthentication supports provenance and file integrity; it does not independently establish what a scene depicts or replace testimony, expert analysis, or documented chain-of-custody practices. Assignment protocols are confirmed with retaining counsel.
What counsel receives
Deliverables are organized for immediate review, clear reference, and reliable mapping back to the original capture.
Rapid response. Controlled capture.
When counsel or a case team needs immediate access, priority review photographs can be securely transmitted from the assignment location, followed by the complete documented evidence package.
Availability depends on connectivity, assignment protocol, authentication requirements, and the volume of selected files.Founder & qualifications
Doug Sanford brings more than four decades of professional imaging experience to Authenticated Captures™.
Sanford first served at the Naval Intelligence Support Center in Washington, D.C., working with highly classified satellite imagery. He later served as a Naval Aircrewman supporting aerial reconnaissance and intelligence operations in dangerous, hostile, and challenging locations worldwide. He held a TS/SCI clearance throughout his naval service.
Honors graduate of both the U.S. Navy School of Photography and Brooks Institute of Photographic Art and Science, with a B.A. in Photo Illustration.
Sanford served as an instructor at Boston University’s Center for Digital Imaging Arts. His work has included Smithsonian collections, NASA microprocessor laboratories, proceedings in the U.S. Capitol, and surgical documentation in operating rooms for hospitals and medical teams.
Why Authenticated Captures?
Authenticated Captures™ brings the capture, its context, file integrity, handling, and delivery into one documented process. The result is imagery that can be reviewed together with a clear account of how it was made and preserved.
Because a persuasive photograph and a verifiable visual record are not the same thing. We connect the imagery to its camera origin, capture conditions, original files, and documented history.
The assignment begins with counsel-directed scope and continues through consistent capture methods, contemporaneous frame-linked logging, cryptographic verification, controlled originals, and organized delivery.
As early as the assignment permits. Early coordination allows access, safety, confidentiality, expert direction, repeat coverage, and delivery expectations to be established before photography begins.
Confidential case intake
The initial intake is deliberately concise. It gives us enough information to evaluate the assignment without asking counsel to send evidence files or privileged materials by ordinary email.
